The Ken Baker Leadership Award honors individuals who have shown remarkable leadership to the Foundation and those the Foundation serves. This annual award recognizes individuals who have developed and implemented a strategic vision and/or transformative initiatives that have resulted in the continued growth, increased impact, long-term viability, and financial strength of the Foundation.

Since 1985, the Montgomery County Community College Foundation, doing business as Montco Foundation, has worked to raise and administer philanthropic gifts in support of students and programs at Montgomery County Community College.

Since 2007, Ken and Valarie Baker have shared their passion for students and access to higher education through the establishment of the KVB Foundation Scholarship and numerous gifts supporting the arts, business, and the Baker Center of Excellence for Employee Ownership and Business Transformation.

Foundation Board Chair Linda La Vay shared, “Each of us here tonight recognizes that you, Ken, have led the Foundation not only through your philanthropy, but also with a bold vision and understanding of the long-term need for the Foundation to stand independently.”

Ken Baker’s investment and leadership in building the Foundation’s Board Strategic Operational Fund provide the resources needed to continue the Foundation’s commitment to supporting students, programs, and faculty at Montgomery County Community College. His foresight and strategic vision have helped position the Foundation for its next chapter in support of Montgomery County students.

As part of our continued growth, we have refreshed our brand and are now operating publicly as the Montco Foundation. We have also moved to a new location and launched a new website at montcofoundation.org

While our name and address are different, our mission remains the same. For more than 40 years, the Foundation has connected generous supporters with opportunities to make a lasting difference in the lives of Montco students.

We remain fully committed to advancing the mission of the College by providing philanthropic support for scholarships and other student-focused initiatives—while serving as responsible stewards of the more than $20M in contributions donors have entrusted to us over the years.

Our new website provides information about our focus, donor recognition, and ways to support the Foundation’s mission. Visitors can also access updates about upcoming events and community initiatives.
